History: The Monokuro Clan has its routes strong in the Land of Water. It had been a notable clan even before their Dōjutsu appeared. The Monokuro clan, more of a family than a clan in numbers and mindset, used to serve the Water Daimyō as assassins, and later adapted to the new ways of the Shinobi. When Kirigakure was founded, the Monokuro Clan joined without second thought. That was also around the time the Dōjutsu started appearing in the clan.

Characteristics && Tradition: The Monokuro Clan is a very tight and closed clan, with many rules and absolute traditions. It consists of about 5 [five] families overall. Earlier in the days, they even used to marry among themselves so as to keep their bloodline pure. With time though, they opened up, and though cousins still marry each other, it's not unheard of for a Monokuro to marry an outsider, nor do they treat outsiders who marry into the clan differently.

All Monokuro Clan members must either become a Shinobi of high rank, or leave the clan altogether. If a Monokuro Clan member disgraces their clan in any way, they are immediately disowned, and all other members are expected to act as if the disowned member was never in the family in the first place. And though they are strict about their family matters, they aren't the most loyal of clans. In the Monokuro, first comes honor, second comes family, and third everything else. As easy as it was for them to leave the Daimyō's for Kirigakure, it is also for them to leave Kirigakure if they are presented with a better option.

Physical Characteristics: Though the clan started out with a line of tan individuals with dark or vivid hair colors, with time, more and more pale-skinned/light haired members started appearing. Though the majority of the Clan still consists of dark-skinned members, there are also a few on the lighter side. The clan though only produces the two opposites, regardless if a clan members marry an outsider or not. [eg. If a tan Monokuro has a child with an outsider carrying lighter colored skin, their offspring would turn out tan (or in rare occasions, very pale).]

DARK CHARACTERISTICS
- Tan skin. The tone can vary.
- Dark hair, or bright and vivid colored hair [eg. Hot-Pink, Cyan, etc.].
- Eye color can be anything.
- This is the most common set of characteristics in the clan.

LIGHT CHARACTERISTICS
- Pale skin. Not pale enough to be white though.
- White hair, or washed-out, light colored hair.
- Eye color can be anything.
- This set of characteristics is less common in the clan.
- If a member of the clan is born with this set of characteristics, it is a tradition in the clan to keep the individual hidden inside until they become 7 [seven] years old. [This tradition originates from the first light featured member of the clan, who was actually thought to be sick and thus was kept inside and cared for as if they were on their deathbed. It was by the time they reached the age of 7 that the clan realized their health was just fine. The tradition itself is outdated and serves no purpose whatsoever, but the elders insist on it, and thus the family obeys.]
